After a Vampire Tracker Marks her with a crescent moon on her forehead, 16-year-old Zoey Redbird enters the House of Night and learns that she is no average fledgling. She has been Marked as special by the vampyre Goddess Nyx and has affinities for all five elements: Air, Fire, Water, Earth and Spirit. But she is not the only fledgling at the House of Night with special powers. When she discovers that the leader of the Dark Daughters, the school’s most elite club, is misusing her Goddess-given gifts, Zoey must look deep within herself for the courage to embrace her destiny—with a little help from her new vampyre friends (or Nerd Herd, as Aphrodite calls them).

My Review: 3.5⭐ This is the first book in The House of Night series. We get to meet Zoey Redbird when her whole life is turned upside down when she is marked to become a Vampire, which means she needs to move to a completely new school and everything. She needs to leave her whole old life behind. I really enjoyed the charachterdevelopment in here. The way the author describes them both in looks and in character, is really good! All the details in the change from human to vampire and in their behavior. I also find the side characters wonderful, we get to know them really well! And all of them have totally different personality which has, to me, a valid point to the story. I enjoyed to worldbuilding and the description in detail of the new school and it's surroundings. I also enjoyed the description of the teachers at the new school and their status. The description of all the different elements you can call on and how it works is really interesting to me and I hope we get more of that and that it will become a big part of the story. The intrigue in here is really high and you are on the edge of your seat all the time. It is always something happening in here. I find it rather unpredictable, you don't really know what will happen, the author make a really good job of keeping you reading. This is a young adult fantasy which contains 12 books.
