Bookreview: Take My Love by Brooke Montgomery
Pages: 392s
4.5/5⭐
A forced proximity stand-alone from small-town romance author Brooke Montgomery about a heartbroken man who finds himself without a job or place to live and the country girl who owns a goat farm with an open position and spare bedroom.
I've crushed on my brother's best friend since I was twelve. He never gave me a second glance until I was dared to kiss him.The following summer, we drunkenly hooked up at my brother's wedding. Finding out he had no memory of our night together made it my dirty little secret.
I spent years avoiding him, but then he shows up at my goat farm needing a job and place to live after his fiancée calls off their engagement. Reluctantly, I agree to give him a chance.
But that doesn't mean I have to make it easy on him.
Keeping things strictly platonic between us, I suggest he date again to get over his ex. When he needs a plus-one, I offer to be his wing woman.
After a night of drinking, I stupidly confess the reasons guys keep breaking up with me and he offers to help me instead.
Lines blur when "just roommates" turn into roommates with benefits, but I'm still determined not to let him break my heart a second time.
My Review
We are introduced to Posey and Silas, we lightly met them in book one. Posey is a very strong and a confident single female character. Silas is as a character is very interesting, at first he comes across as very low and a broken man. When he later meets Posey we really get to follow him and watch him grow. To watch their relationship grow in ways you could never imaging, it was a fantastic ride!
I liked the atmosphere in the book and the place where the story took hold. Especially the place where Posey and Silas work. I had so many moments where I just couldn't stop myself from laughing.
The writing is just phenomenal, the text got a really good flow, chapters aren't to long, the pacing were really just perfect.
The plot, o'boy the plot! It started rather slow but wow it really picked up! And the smut! Breathtaking!! All the moments Posey and Silas had together and the way they come to a conclusion on what to do and to move forward! They as a couple is totally the perfect fit! All the sneaking around really kept me reading because I really wanted to know what was going to happen, if they were able to keep their secrets or if everything was gonna go to hell.
I can't wait for the third and final book in this series! This is also my first contact with any of Brookes books and I am really happy to say that I will definitely look into her other books.
